I began my sporting career age five as an enthusiastic swimmer and
have taken a winding path to representing Great Britain. I spent my late
teenage years as a keen runner achieving some regional and national
success with my club and competing regularly in National Championships.
I reached a ranking of 36th in the country before serious injuries
derailed my progress with specialists telling me it was unlikely I would
be able to run again. I heeded their advice for a couple of years till
the death of two inspiring sporting friends made me realise life was too short to not
do what I love and I tried to jog again.
With a lot of encouragement from my old training partners, this
developed into running and I eventually managed a couple of races. Upon
returning to serious training in 2011 I sought a new challenge to
utilise my swimming and running capabilities and turned to triathlon.
I had immediate success in my first season qualifying to represent
Great Britain in the European Championships in only my fourth ever
triathlon.
Since then I’ve gone on to finish 14th in the World Duathlon Championships and am loving racing and training more than ever.
